About Me
Hi, I’m Aaron!
I trained as a biomolecular engineer and spent a decade doing work on renewable energy development. In my early thirties, I started to realize that my work to advance a sustainable and restorative culture through science - while still beautiful and important to me - wasn’t totally congruent with my passions! So I decided to step back, do some soul-searching, and re-work my own ideas of livelihood, service, and creativity.
I learned a lot about myself and our society during the course of my science career and I have become convinced that the core challenges of our times are not inherently technological in nature. In my view, many of the widening gaps of health, education, and justice inequality (which drive our climate crisis among other challenges) have their roots in social, cultural, and interpersonal realms.
In particular, I believe the pervasive nature of trauma with its hallmark disconnection and maladaptive responses is the biggest obstacle we face in these times. I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful reconnection to my self and my body can be to restoring aliveness, agency, and creativity. I believe that by supporting this work for others I can have the greatest impact in my community and the world at large.
Today, I work as a somatic life coach, educator, and dance community organizer. I’m also pursuing a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in order to become a licensed therapist. I work with an integrated framework that incorporates modern neuroscience and embodied tools for a holistic, compassionate, and collaborative approach.
I bring many years of experience to my somatic coaching practice, including:
